Thank You To My Sponsors – The Honor Roll

Thank You To All My Sponsors! This page is the most important of all, because I get to thank all of the people who have become my sponsors – allowing me the opportunity to travel on this exciting journey this summer. I call this page “The Honor Roll.”

The “Honor Roll” is a list of everyone who has generously supported me via a contribution toward helping me achieve my overall fundraising goal. Contributions include anything that ultimately helps me to reach my goal between now and the end of May 2012.

People to People Student Ambassador Sponsorship, Sara LaRose For 2012

We have finally completed the steps to activate our fundraising system. If you would like to play a huge part of this once in a lifetime trip for me, you can do so by making a contribution directly through PayPal! I am responsible for raising at least $7,193 by May 1st 2012. The trip will be June 15 to July 3, 2012. As of June 14th I have raised the needed amount; $3,800 was from my sponsors and fundraising. Thank you so much to all my family, friends and sponsors! Tomorrow is the big day, I will be off to Europe! We will update this site with pics often, so if you subscribe you will receive updates. 🙂

The cost breakdown is as follows:
Tuition, European Discovery: $6,499
Ticket, Tampa to NYC: $399
Insurance, Delegate Protection Plan: $295
Total: $7,193

Everyone who supported me in this effort is now listed in my “Honor Roll” section, along with their buisness name. We also plan on sharing photos, stories, and videos of the trip with all of my sponsors. Thanks to those of you who have helped thus far, AND thank you in advance to those planning to do so! Click the Donate button below. Or, if you prefer to mail a contribution just send me a message through our FaceBook Fan Page and I will send you my mailing address.

The trip I have been accepted for is called the European Discovery. It is a 19-day adventure through Italy, France, Switzerland and Austria. I will be traveling from June 15th to July 3, 2012. Home in time for 4th of July! Here is a video we saw at the meeting; it explains all the details of our 2012 European Discovery trip.

Our Delegation will meet in Tampa and fly together to NYC, where we will fly off to Europe (probably to Paris via London, more on that a bit later).

Welcome to my website-blog. I will begin with a timeline of how this amazing journey began.

First, I received a letter notifying me of my nomination, that came about November 2011. I don’t have it to show because we had to turn them in to the P2P staff at the first meeting.

After we received the letter, we really didn’t act on it right away; we didn’t think it was for real!! Imagine that. Then at the last minute we confirmed a seat at the first information meeting in Tampa, FL. at the DoubleTree Hotel. There were literally 1,000 people there! My Dad counted. One of the P2P delegate leaders confirmed 384 student candidates in attendance. Only 40 from my delegation could be chosen. 40 out of 384.

The meeting lasted about 3-hours and we imediately registered myself, right after the meeting ended, I mean while people were leaving the meeting room…my Dad was on the phone registering me. Once we were registered,  right away the next step was getting an interview time; they were filling up fast so my Mom and I ran out to the lobby and secured a time-slot for a one-on-one interview with the P2P program leaders, and myself.

The interview was held on Saturday, Feb 4th at the John F. Germany Public Library, Tampa Florida, Ashley Dr. It lasted about 2-hours. At first I was nervous, but the small group I was in helped me to relax and enjoy the process. In addition, our interview session was as one group, and outside by the bay, so that helped alot; I love meeting people my own age, and being outdoors! I had visions of me sitting in a chair in a room with a bunch of people asking me questions. Haahaa, it was nothing like that at all!

John F. Germany Public Library, Tampa FLWe were told upon the conclusion of the interview, that it could take up to 72-hours to be notified whether I was accepted into the program for 2012 or not.

My entire family and I waited patiently (not really, we were very anxious) until about 3pm Tuesday, Feb 7th I received the phone call…I was accepted!

We went to dinner that evening to celebrate! A million thoughts are going through my mind at this point, however, I was relieved and confident that I would make a great contribution to the P2P program for 2012.

…and so…Let The Journey Begin!
